Overview

Introducing Oxfam is a brief introduction to the work of one of the UK’s best known overseas aid charities. Founded in 1942, Oxfam continues its work in relief and development today, in over 70 countries. Introducing Oxfam describes Oxfam’s history, charity status, overseas work, fundraising, shops, education and information work, and how Oxfam relates to the media. The focus is on people – people we work alongside overseas in their struggle to improve their own lives; people here, staff and volunteers, who work in many ways to raise money and raise awareness, and who think of themselves as part of a worldwide movement dedicated to the fight against poverty and exploitation.
