Philippines Typhoon Resource: Learn about super typhoon Haiyan and Oxfam’s response
Overview
Super Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines on Friday 8 November 2013. According to the latest estimates, several thousand people have died and nearly 4.5 million people are without shelter, food or water.
This teaching resource will help learners aged 11-14 to explore why Haiyan had such a catastrophic impact, what makes poor people particularly vulnerable to disasters, and how governments, organisations and ordinary people can respond.
