Overview

One of the major under-used resources in the fight against poverty is local technology – the skills and knowledge that the poor in the Third World already possess, and their ability to select and adapt technologies from outside. Local technology is weakened and sometimes destroyed by the thought-less use of modern techno-logy, and it is systematically downgraded by those (many of them Third World people) trained in Euro-American technology.
