Evaluation of River Basin Programme in Nepal
Overview
The River Basin Programme of Oxfam GB Nepal has been implemented since 1999. This programme is as a part of the regional River Basin Programme (RBP) and is designed to address the problems faced by the vulnerable and marginalised communities in the Terrai Region. The current initiatives began in 2005 with four local partners. The project’s objectives are to: increase capacity of the community to prepare for and mitigate the impact of disaster, enhance livelihood of the community by providing options that withstand flood disasters, influence disaster reduction measures of the district administration, and to improve communities’ access to entitlements and promote greater equality between women and men. The aim of the evaluation was to: analyse existing hazards and vulnerabilities; review interventions carried out by the four partners during the last two and a half years; and to recommend appropriate interventions for the future.
