Overview

Thanks to the range of natural resources and the wealth of human capital, Vietnam is well placed to develop its aquaculture sector. Although it is one of the world’s largest producers of seafoods, Vietnam faces environmental and food security problems, and adequate planning is therefore a critical issue if aquaculture is to be developed in a sustainable fashion. In Vietnam, efforts are being redoubled in order to improve the physical conditions in which aquaculture is conducted as well as providing technical, organisational, financial, and training levels of those dependent on such activities, and to promote the development of the sector overall.
