Overview

This document outlines Oxfam’s Responsible Program Data Policy.

At a time when there is increased pressure on international NGOs for transparency and to disclose more data, and when Oxfam is collecting ever more data through its evaluation practice, the need has become apparent for Oxfam to put in place a data protection policy.

Oxfam is one of the first international NGOs to develop an explicit policy on the responsible use of data.

The policy is framed according to the following rights:

  • the right to be counted and heard
  • the right to dignity and respect
  • the right to make an informed decision
  • the right to privacy
  • the right to not be put at risk

The policy was approved in April 2015 by Oxfam’s Executive Board.
