Overview

National analyses show that youth participation is often diminished within the policy and practice of education. In both formal and informal education there are few opportunities for developing skills in leadership, motivation, engagement, self-expression, creativity, or entrepreneurship. It is also noticeable in a number of countries that there are no opportunities for teacher training on how to cultivate students’ skills and promote global citizenship education, which would promote active youth participation.

This report examines the needs of the Future School Youth Forums on youth participation and global citizenship education. Conducting research in Cyprus, Italy, Lithuania, Poland and the United Kingdom, the report seeks to demonstrate similarities and differences, and compare them with wider European trends to understand transversal needs across Europe.
