Oxfam’s WE-Care Initiative: An overview
Overview
This interactive PDF offers a brief overview of Oxfam’s WE-Care initiative. This is a three-year initiative (2014–2017) to address the heavy and unequal responsibilities for care and housework and to improve outcomes for women across Oxfam’s programmes: food security, markets, resilience, political participation and post-disaster recovery.
WE-Care activities are embedded within existing Oxfam programmes in 10 countries (Colombia, Ethiopia, Malawi, The Philippines, Uganda, Zimbabwe) and components of the approach are being implemented in Bangladesh, Honduras, Tajikistan and Zambia. These host programmes cover many areas, including livelihoods, women’s leadership, sexual and reproductive health rights, and are run by Oxfam Canada, Oxfam GB and Oxfam Novib.
